02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Primary object of the Trust shall be maintenance of the Statue and the solum of the Statue and the ground surrounding the Statue belonging to the Trustees. The secondary objects are: (the implementation of which will not prejudice the primary object) a)The encouragement and support of persons, clubs, societies, companies and other organizations concerned with the provision and promotion of education and the arts for the benefits of the residents of the Borders Region. b)The giving of donations, contributions, grants or loans for any of the foregoing objects c)The making of donations or grants for the relief of poverty of persons residing in the Borders Region. d)The making of donations or grants to assist persons residing in the Borders Region who have serious health problems or difficulties, with power to make such donations or grants either directly to such persons or to hospices or other organizations providing care or assistance for such persons.
