02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Building on our heritage as a visitor centre, the charity is developing the Mill on the Fleet as a vibrant arts, heritage and cultural centre that serves and enriches Gatehouse of Fleet and the wider community. We provide a tourist information centre, staffed by volunteers, an exhibition detailing the history and heritage of Gatehouse and the surrounding area. host an outlet for a group of local artists and makers, a second-hand bookshop, a community garden, the Wheels of Fleet cycling hub, and a Mens Shed initiative. and provide a temporary exhibition space for local artists and exhibitions of local interest.. The Mill also presents a range of events including local interest talks, musical concerts, literary and other arts events, and provides meeting and activity space for local groups.
