02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Mary Ann's Cottage offers visitors a unique snapshot into the past. An opportunity to step back in time and discover 170 years of Caithness' crofting heritage. We offer guided tours throughout the summer months. Children visit for free.

Constitutional objectives
1) to acquire and preserve buildings, la1l.ds I 'b..istoric sites in Caithness (and where appropriate in adjacent parts of Northern Scotland) as the Trustees consider appropriate with a view to demonstrating the history, culture, flora, fauna, geology and way of life in the North of Scotland: 2. to acquire and preserve such fixtures,' fittings, furniture, textiles furnishings, implements, artefacts, books and papers related to the above buildings and such additional fittings, furniture, textiles, furnishings, implements, artefacts, books and papers as the Trustees consider would enhance said buildings:· 3. to acquire and preserve such other relics related to the Trust's purposes 4. to allow the public access to such buildings, lands and historic sites at all reasonable times: 5. generally to encourage and promote the study and preservation of the history, culture, flora, fauna, geology and way of life in Caithness and adjacent parts of Northern Scotland as the Trustees consider appropriate.
