02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
MACPool is a social enterprise, owned and operated by MACEL. It aims to- Enable the community of Mid Argyll and Tarbert to swim and take part in exercise, leisure and social activities in support of health and well-being. Advance education through provision of training in swimming, life-saving and resuscitation. Support children and adults suffering from a mental and/or physical disability or impairment through the provision of therapy within a swimming pool environment. Arrange and promote classes for swimming and life-saving in schools, colleges etc. Provide in the interests of social welfare, facilities for recreation and other leisure time activity within the Mid Argyll area with a view to improving health and wellbeing. Promote tourism, industry and commerce within Mid Argyll for the benefit of the community. Mid Argyll Enterprises Limited manages the MACPool Activity Hub its buildings and the next door building which is rented out to a nursery school

Constitutional objectives
(1) To advance education through the provision of training in the skills of swimming, life saving and resuscitation and such other skills as would be of assistance to a person endeavouring to save life and through the provision of courses for schoolchildren and the general public in safety procedures. (2) To provide relief for children and adults suffering from a mental and/or physical disability or impairment through the provision of therapy within a swimming pool environment. (3) To arrange and promote lectures, demonstrations and competitions and to form classes of instruction so as to bring a widespread and thorough knowledge of the principles which underlie the art of swimming andJlife saving in schools, colleges and other educational establishments (4) To provide in the interests of social welfare facilities for recreation and other leisure time activity available to the public at large within the Mid Argyll area with a view to improving their conditions of life. (5) To promote tourism industry and commerce within Mid Argyll for the benefit of the general public in that area.
