02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Maintain the building which houses a heritage library and keep the grounds in good order. Open the library to the local community and visitors on a regular basis. Lend out books to members of the community who live in the DG13 postcode area. Ensure the preservation and conservation of books by regular inspection and use the services of a book restoration specialist as and when required. Encourage the use of Westerkirk Parish Library as an educational, study and information centre for both the local and wider community. Liaise with other heritage libraries in Scotland. Use of social media and the local newspaper to publicise events and activities.
