02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

LCV undertakes practical nature conservation activities in and around the Lothians (and occasionally further afield). We provide transport, tools and training to allow volunteers to do this work, supporting colleagues in councils and other organisations with land managed for conservation in achieving their goals. In the 2024/25 year we provided 652 volunteer-days of labour on 59 tasks for 23 different clients. Example activities include invasive species removal, path maintenance, tree planting/maintenance, pond management and many more.
