02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Firsthand Lothian exists to support children, young people with disabilities and families, parents and carers to help improve their health and wellbeing, confidence and resilience. We work with families in their own community providing 1:1 support, guidance, information and opportunities for parent/carers to connect. Our services are short term and will benefit disadvantaged children and families, families with children with additional support needs, isolated mums and mental health & wellbeing. our services include. 1:1 support for children up to 16 years of age who will be able to achieve their goals & develop their confidence within a time limited service ( 6 -9 months) 1:1 support for children and young people who will who will benefit from exploring opportunities available to them in their local community which will improve their mental health and wellbeing Working with parents to help and encourage them to establish routines with their children

Constitutional objectives
The Objects for which the Service is established are to promote the welfare of and to provide relief and support for disadvantaged and vulnerable families including parents and carers of children with disabilities in Edinburgh and its environs by:- (a) Providing a family support service (b) Providing a health and well-being service (c) Providing a befriending service (d) Providing any other family support services as required by families or other agencies working with families. (e) Promoting, providing and supporting volunteering opportunities for the mutual benefit of volunteers, children, parents and families (f) Providing a sitter service (g) Providing opportunities for education and training for volunteers (h) Gathering and disseminating learning (i) Engaging in any other activities which promote the aforesaid objects and are deemed by law to be charitable.
