02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is established to benefit the community of Scourie by providing facilities for the Scourie Community Council and the Free Church of Scotland to operate from. The hall is also used by Scourie Primary and Nursery School during term time for P.E., concerts, and school plays. Throughout the year, the venue hosts concerts, dances, and ceilidhs, while also serving as an important meeting place for the wider community. In addition, it is used for public meetings, Highland Councillor surgeries, and funeral gatherings.

Constitutional objectives

a) To Advance education. b) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Scourie and district without distinction of sex or political, religious or other opinions, by associating the Local Authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and' to provide facili ties in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants, and to foster a community spirit for the achievement of these and other such objects as may by law be deemed to be charitable. c) To secure the establishment, maintenance and management of a community Hall for activities promoted by the Committee in furtherance of the above objects. The Association shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion.
