02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

To advance knowledge and encourage the practice of horticulture in the community through providing lectures, demonstrations and educational visits. The Society organises and stages 2 flower shows a year as well as providing assistance to voluntary organisations, community groups and individuals with horticultural issues and projects.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1 the advancement of education by providing lectures, demonstrations and educational visits. 4.2 the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended by organising and staging flower shows. 4.3 the advancement of citizenship or community development by assisting voluntary organisations and individuals with Horticultural projects. 4.4 the advancement of environmental protection or improvement by encouraging the practice of horticulture in the community
