02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Legion of Mary Wayside Club exists to support people experiencing homelessness, poverty, loneliness and social isolation across Glasgow. From our premises at 32 Midland Street, we provide a safe and welcoming environment 365 days a year. Our volunteers offer hot meals, refreshments, showers, clean clothing, toiletries and laundry facilities to meet immediate needs. We also provide friendship, a listening ear and opportunities to reduce isolation through social activities and community support. As a Catholic charity, we offer spiritual support, prayer and weekly Mass to those who wish to participate, while respecting the beliefs of all who attend. Everything we do is delivered by volunteers whose aim is to restore dignity, offer hope and ensure every person who comes through our doors is treated with compassion, respect and kindness.
