02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The objects of the Trust include assistance with the provision of facilities to persons under twenty one years old for physical recreation as well as such other general charitable purposes as the Trustees see fit. The giving of assistance is at the discretion of the Trustees and the aim of the Trustees is to build up the General Fund such as to be able to give assistance wherever appropriate and approved by the Trustees, including taking into account the possibility of there being several large requests for assistance in any one year.

Constitutional objectives

The Trustees shall stand possessed of the Trust Fund Upon Trust to pay or apply or cause to be paid or applied at such time or times and in such manner as the Trustees shall in their discretion think fit the income and if and so far as the Trustees shall think fit the capital of the Trust Fund for the following purposes that is to say:- (a) the organisation or provision or assistance in the organisation or provision of the facilities which will enable and encourage pupils and students at schools and universities and other places of higher education in any part of the United Kingdom to play Rugby Union Football or other games or sports so as to assist in ensuring that due attention is given to the physical education and development of such pupils and students as well as to the development and occupation of their minds. (b) the organisation or provision or assistance in the organisation or provision in any part of the United Kingdom of facilities for physical recreation in the interests of social welfare (with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the same are provided) for persons who are under the age of 21 years and who by reason of their youth or social or economic circumstances have need of such facilities.
