Constitutional objectives

The Trust hereby created for the following purposes, namely: (First) To establish or contribute towards the establishment of a memorial gallery to house a permanent collection of the work of the said John Duncan Fergusson and to provide facilities for exhibiting the works of artists whose work shall be considered by the Trustees to be “independent” in character as hereinbefore define. (Second) To assist financially or in any other way whatsoever any artists whose work shall be considered by the Trustees to be “independent” in character as defined by the said John Duncan Fergusson in his book “Modern Scottish Painting” and who, in the opinion of the Trustees shall be in need of assistance. and not elegible for assistance from other organisation. (Third) to promote or contribute towards the promotion of publications of any kind whatsoever which, in the opinion of the Trustees, are likely to advance the other purposes of the Trust or the progress of Art in Scotland. and (Fourth) To contribute in any way whatsoever towards the advancement of the beliefs expressed or implied by the said John Duncan Fergusson in his paintings, sculpture, and writings.
