02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Crew offers professional training and Nightlife Harm Reduction services nationally. a Drop-in based in the city centre of Edinburgh in addition to a free person-centred counselling service. We can also connect you to a team of Expert Witnesses who provide court testimony in cases relating to drugs and drug use.

Constitutional objectives
The objects for which the Company is established are: (i) To advance the education of and further the health of members of the community with drug, alcohol, solvent or gambling problems and in furtherance thereof: To provide an advice, information, education and counselling service through an addiction and rehabilitation unit to people who are experiencing difficulties with their drug, alcohol, solvent use or gambling problems, and to their families and friends. To provide such a service in order to reduce drug, alcohol, solvent or gambling related harm and to provide rehabilitation through assessment, counselling, group work, education, day centres, therapeutic workshops, community handyman schemes and alternative leisure activities. To provide addiction resource, community health and social education facilities, and the education and training of other professionals in order to increase awareness in the community of the harm created by excessive use of drugs, alcohol, or solvents, and gambling. To educate drug users in order to reduce the spread of HIV and other related illnesses through the sharing of injection equipment and unprotected casual sexual relationships. To work closely with Consultant Psychiatrists (Addictions) to provide a prescribing facility for drug dependent members of the community. To encourage the recruitment and use of volunteers and to liaise with statutory and non-statutory organisations in order to network services.
