02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Charity awards grants to eligible institutions, the grants are intended to help these institutions provide tangible benefits to such beneficiary groups as the Trustees may deem appropriate. The Trustees maintain an endowment funds with the income from this used to make the grants.

Constitutional objectives
The Trustees are directed to distribute the Trust Fund at such time or times and in such amounts as they may determine in their sole discretion for such charitable purposes only, with power to the Trustees in their discretion to accumulate the Trust income in whole or in part for a period of twenty one years from the date hereof. and it is hereby specifically declared and provided that the Trustees shall be prohibited from exercising their powers (a) other than for charitable purposes, or (b) in such manner as to benefit directly or indirectly the late Doctor Jessie Sym or any person who has contributed to the Trust Fund, or any spouse of his or of any such person.
