02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The club have organised a range of activities in the year which meet all of the club objectives. Our summer and winter syllabuses contained a mix of agricultural competitions, talks and farm visits along with sports, crafts and business tours. We also held fund raising and social events which included all members along with members of other local clubs. We took part in various competitions at district, region and national level where possible and tried to include as many of our members in all events as possible.

Constitutional objectives

To advance the cultural education and training of young people at large in rural issues, agriculture, home crafts and related subject as well as to create a fuller realisation of the duties and responsibilities of citizenship. To promote the knowledge of country life in young people and produce a greater interest and efficiency in agriculture in all of its branches by making rural life more attractive to the young members of the community by means of social amenities and healthy recreation. To advance the development of active citizens through development off individuals involvement within their local community and leadership of their Young Farmer Group. In the interests of social welfare of young people in rural Scotland provide and promote the provision of activities for recreation and other leisure time occupations which will improve their conditions of life and will assist in the development of their spiritual and mental capacities and self reliance and individual responsibility. To co-operate with the colleges of agriculture, education authorities and any other bodies engaged in agricultural and rural education. To take in co-operation with the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Club any other action calculated to further the aims of the Young Farmers Clubs movement.
