02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The principal activity of the charity is the encouragement of the young people of Carluke and the surrounding areas in their own spiritual development, in the formation of positive attitudes to themselves and others and in assisting them in making responsible life choices. The charity operates a youth and families centre in Carluke in conjunction with South Lanarkshire Council’s Youth, Family and Community Learning Service where it provides a wide range of services to young people, including support networks to groups of vulnerable young people. Ordinarily, the centre is open six days a week where it provides a number of services including issue-based group work and social drop-in sessions with food and drink to supplement nutritional needs.

Constitutional objectives
(1) To advance the Christian relqgon among the residents of Carluke and surrounding areas ('the Operating Areay'), particularly among young people, as it affects every aspect of their lives by encouraging these young people in their own spiritual development, in the formation of positive attitudes to themselves and others, and in assisting them in making responsible life choices. (2) To promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds, particularly such skills as will assist residents of the Operating Area in obtaining paid employment. (3) To promote, establish and operate other schemes of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community within the Operating Area.
