02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
CACE is a leading provider locally of social prescribing activities for olde. We have four main pillars: Non-Regulated Day Support, Group Activities, Befriending and Community Transport, all of which are available to older people in Cumbernauld and the Northern Corridor area of North Lanarkshire. The charity provides creative social based activities that aim to support older people to live well, to learn well and to help older people remember. We do this primarily in group settings and throughout community outings. We increase older people’s socialisation and connections to their community, improve memory, confidence and their physical abilities, as well as self- esteem and self-reliance, all of which contribute to happier and healthier older people. This in turn increases the potential for older people to maximise their independence for longer. All of our service provision is delivered through a mixed economy of paid staff and skilled volunteers.
