02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Haylie House operates a caring and comfortable environment for elderly people mainly from the district of Largs who are unable to look after themselves. Since the home opened in 1955 it has fulfilled its aim of encouraging residents to maintain independence for as long as possible whilst being looked after in a pleasant and homely environment. It is a happy home and all who are involved in its runningare justifiably proud of the excellent reputation which it enjoys.

Constitutional objectives
The Company's objects are: (i) To promote, administer and operate so far as such purpose is charitable the residential home for the elderly known as Haylie House, Largs by providing sheltered housing and other amenities for the care and welfare of the elderly who are physically and mentally unable to live independently in the locality and to create conditions calculated to affect favourable their physical, moral and mental welfare and, as far as possible, to enable them to take their place as responsible citizens of the community.
