02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Markinch Townhall Management committee run on behalf of fife council Markinch Townhall. This enables many groups, organisations and others the opportunity to use the Townhall for a wide variety of uses, from after school clubs to sports and comedy nights to parties. The committee have regular meetings throughout the year to ensure the smooth running of the hall from cleaning to opening and closing for events. We also maintain the property and its contents.

Constitutional objectives

The objects of the Committee shall be charitable, namely to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Markinch and its environs without distinction of political, religious or other opinions by: 2.1 bringing together in association the inhabitants, voluntary organisations and local authorities in a common effort to advance education and further the health of the said inhabitants. 2.2 managing and maintaining Markinch Town Hall on behalf of Kirkcaldy District Council for the use of the inhabitants of Markinch and its environs, including its use for meetings, lectures and classes, and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare so that the conditions of life of the said inhabitants may be improved. and 2.3 fostering a community spirit for the achievement of these and other such purposes as may by law be deemed to be charitable.
