02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Children’s Classic Concerts creates performances that are genuinely exhilarating, inspiring long-lasting journeys with music. We are unique in this country - in that we are the only organisation whose primary purpose is the production of orchestral concerts specifically for young audiences aged 4 – 12. The belief that children deserve enriching cultural experiences that are as carefully considered, high-quality and ambitious as those for adults is embedded in all our activity. Our 1-hour concert format, with its distinctive programming, blends well-known ‘classics’ with contemporary music whilst subtly interweaving educational elements into the presentation. For us, a quality, child-centred attitude towards performance is all about entertainment and interaction, so young people feel a part of what is happening on stage.
