02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Squids is set up to provide safe and affordable childcare for primary school aged children in the local community. We support children and their families by providing high quality out of school care before and after school and during school holidays. We provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can play, socialise, develop their independence and take part in a range of activities and experiences. Staff plan activities around the children’s interests and needs, including creative activities, games, outdoor play, sports and opportunities to develop new skills. We work closely with parents, schools and other organisations to support children’s wellbeing and development and to ensure that children are given opportunities to have their views heard and participate in decisions about their care. We aim to ensure our service is accessible to families within our local community and that children are treated fairly, with their individual needs being taken into account.

Constitutional objectives
The aims of Squids shall be: (a) to promote the care and education of children in need of care during out of school hours and school holidays, and (2) to promote the provision of facilities for the recreation and leisure time occupation of such children in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life.
