02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Kilbirnie & Glengarnock Community Association is set up to oversee the running of Bridgend Community Centre alongside North Ayrshire Council, to provide a warm, inclusive and welcoming space for the community to run a host of events and activities ranging from English Classes for other speaking languages, Yoga and Fitness Classes, Recovery and Wellness Groups, Sewing Groups and Community Cafes. We achieve this objective by overseeing the online booking system, keyholding, managing the financial responsibilities, liaising with North Ayrshire Council regarding repairs and upkeep of the building and engaging with the local community to assist with any requests that they may have.

(a) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the neighbourhood without distinction, of sex or political, religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation and for leisure time occupation (b) To co-operate with the local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of a Community Centre where this exists for activities promoted by the Association in furtherance of the above objects (c) To foster a community spirit for the achievement of these and other such objects as may by law be deemed to be charitable
