02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Parkhead Youth Project (PYP) has served Parkhead for 30+ years, supporting 5-25 year olds and their families. PYP empowers young people to overcome poverty and isolation, build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve aspirations, delivering engaging, inclusive services, fostering partnerships, and ensuring organisational sustainability with youth at its core. Services include Youth Clubs (with homework support), Drama, Lifeskills, seasonal activities/trips, Forest School/Outdoor Play, Residentials, and a Youth Board. PYP builds youth skills for community involvement, addresses service gaps by working with families, promotes other local services, and hosts family activities/lunches to celebrate Parkhead's diverse community. The project, managed by a Project Manager and Board, boasts a skilled staff team, many of whom are former PYP service users, enhancing service delivery.
