02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
LGBT Youth Scotland’s mission is to support LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-25 to flourish and thrive. reaching their full potential in life, work and education. LGBTQ+ young people face unique barriers to being safe, healthy and happy. The Charity works to break down these barriers, providing specialised services for LGBTQ+ young people. We create safer spaces aimed at reducing isolation, improving wellbeing and supporting young people to positive destinations. We do this through youth groups, 1:1 coaching, outreach, participation opportunities, education and online support. Our LGBT Charter is our equality accreditation programme which aims to make the places young people live, learn and work, safer and more inclusive. Through these steps, we hope to make Scotland a better place, giving all lGBTQ+ young people a fair chance at a positive future.

Constitutional objectives
5.1 [1] To advance the learning, development, and to empower of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) young people aged 13–25 by providing them with knowledge, skills, and support to overcome barriers, explore their potential, and achieve success. [2] To raise awareness and promote education among the their families, friends, and peers and the general public in Scotland by delivering innovative, inclusive, and accessible learning opportunities that promote personal development, resilience, and skills for life. [3] To advance citizenship and community development by empowering LGBT young people to become active contributors to their communities through leadership, volunteering, and advocacy opportunities. [4] To promote equality and diversity and advance human rights by working to eliminate discrimination and by creating inclusive environments where LGBT young people feel safe, valued, and able to thrive.
