02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Refugee Sanctuary Scotland has been operational for over 29 years (with December 2025 being our 30th Anniversary). Through the years we have worked tirelessly to alleviate destitution among asylum seekers and refuges in Scotland. Within the last year, our work has continued to provide support for asylum seekers and refuges with the immediate needs of people through four main strands of work: temporary accommodation, travel support, financial assistance and mental health and wellbeing inputs.

Constitutional objectives
3. The objects of the Company shall be, in respect of refugees and asylum seekers and/or the families of refugees and asylum seekers: (i) the relief of those in need by reason of disadvantage. (ii) the prevention or relief of poverty. (iii) the advancement of education including the education of refugees and asylum seekers and/or their families and the education of the public on issues related to refugees and asylum seekers. (iv) the advancement of health. (v) the saving of lives. (vi) the advancement of citizenship or community development. (vii) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. (viii) the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities. (ix) the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation. (x) the promotion of religious or racial harmony. (xi) the promotion of equality and diversity. and (xii) any other object that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding objects.
