02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The principal activity of the charity in the year to 31/08/25 was that of establishing and maintaining a public park, walkways and lake at Strichen, Aberdeenshire. In the year to 31/08/25 a significant commitment was made to provide a new shed for the use by the Volunteers for storage of machinery and supplies, to provide occasional dry space for public events and included the installation of a 14.4kWSolar Array, with 10kW battery storage, to supply the adjoining Lodge Cafe/Restaurant with a proportion of their power requirements, to meet our Net Zero aspirations. Additional work was also carried out in the Lodge to improve the efficiency of insulation. Other improvements within the Park included upgrading paths and culverts to enable 100% access for all classes of visitor ability. An investment was also made to provide a mobility scooter for use by disabled visitors.
