02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Helensburgh Heritage Trust was set up to educate the people of Helensburgh and the surrounding area of its heritage and to preserve this heritage. In order to meet these objectives, we run monthly meetings with speakers during the winter, we have a website with many articles and pictures relating to the area, and we have a store of artefacts (some of which are on semi-permanent display in the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre, while others are on temporary display and others are on permanent loan to other organisations within the town). The Baird TV Centenary Trust (SC051167 - also known as JLB TV 100) was set up in part by Helensburgh Heritage Trust, and many members and trustees were involved in the celebrations which took place in April 2026 to mark the centenary of the invention of television by Helensburgh-born John Logie Baird. Trustees also represent the Heritage Trust on the Anderson (Local Collection) Trust, and on the design panel for the Outdoor Museum in Colquhoun

Constitutional objectives
The object for which the Trust is established is to advance the education of the public generally and particularly the inhabitants of the Town of Helensburgh and the surrounding areas by the preservation, restoration, enhancement, display and maintenance of features and objects of local historical, arts and arts related, architectural, archaeological or genealogical interest in or germane to the Helensburgh area. and to promote a wider appreciation of the heritage and history of the area by means of providing and maintaining any or all of the following a Heritage Centre. exhibitions and educational facilities. meetings, lectures and tours. publications. and other appropriate facilities and events.
