What the charity exists to do
The Charity provides both visual and verbal history of the miners in Leadhills. It has a following form all over the world and holds the only existing examples of Bargain books. Some of the books date back to 1600s.

Constitutional objectives
For the advancement of the education of the general public, without distinction of sex, polititcal, religious or other opinions, by provision of a library and museum comprising the Founding Collection together with such books, archives, historical objects, specimens, photographs and documents as may from time to time be aquired for the preservation in accordance with the provisions of this Deed (which items comprised together with the Founding Collection are hereinafter called 'the Collection').
