02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We provided our usual events during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival in May including the Whisky Fair which accommodated 13 independent bottlers and distilleries. Numbers were slightly down on the previous year, but the Whisky Fair and other events continued to provide significant funds to support our activities during the year. Galileo Empower continued to support the Christmas lights which enabled the purchase of additional lights in memory of Gordon Haughton and René Ramon. Prospects for Dufftown 2000 in 2026 remain very positive with progression of the Whisky and Heritage Centre project looking good and provision of the Christmas lights secured for the next year through sponsorship with Galileo Empower. We have secured partial funding from Foundation Scotland for the next phase of the Whisky and Heritage project and must now find match funding before we can proceed.
