02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
1 To fulfil an educational role in schools and communities of Inverness by stimulating interest and encouraging participation in local folklore and oral history projects. 2 To provide an enabling service for community based folklore and local history initiatives by: a. Developing a support network of information, resources and expertise for all groups in the community involved in local history. b. Providing encouragement and training to enhance the skills of existing volunteers and to attract more volunteers into this area of work. c. Conducting and publishing research concerning past and present initiatives for the collection of the folklore and oral history of the Burgh of Inverness and surrounding district. d. Being receptive and responsive to the ideas and changing needs of communities and groups. 3 To promote and encourage the provision of a local history archive and exhibition facilities. 4 To take part in or support any activities connected directly/indirectly with above
