02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Coldingham Society overseas a number of projects in the village community which contribute to the charity's declared purpose. These are the Coldingham Bookshop where income raised through the second-hand bookshop is distributed by way of small grants to local groups and projects. The Coldingham Garden Party where a group of volunteers take responsibility for enhancing the local village environment through the upkeep of community spaces, planting and maintaining flower beds, tubs and other displays. The Garden Party also maintain grounds around the village war memorial. Coldingham History Society is the newest project which started in 2024 and holds regular meetings with guest speakers. These sessions focus on local historial events and issues and currentky attract between 50 and 75 people.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Association are: a) to advance the education of the public in the history and culture of the area of Coldingham, Berwickshire, through the establishment of an historical centre or similar means. and b) to advance citizenship and community development by promoting civic responsibility, volunteering and the voluntary sector among Coldingham groups and sports clubs which promote the skills and well being of their members within the community. and c) any other similar purposes which are charitable in law and beneficial to the general public.
