02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We organise activities and events for the members of the 18 groups that make up our Federation. These include craft workshops, outings, social events, and a bi-annual competitive show. We work in partnership with neighbouring federations to extend our activities to other members and also welcome non-members to all events with the exception of our AGM and business meetings. We provide support to the groups within our federation to help them organise their own programme of activities and attract new members. We distribute information from our national body and encourage member to take part in national events and learning opportunities. This year we have embarked on a project to safeguard and document our history and are working with our local Archive Centre to preserve our story as women’s history and experiences in our area have not been routinely recorded in the past.
