02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Moving On Employment Project aims to support those in need in Shetland by reason of ill-health, additional support need, disability, or other disadvantage by developing a service to help young people to identify and achieve their employment related goals. This could be training, work experience, full or part-time employment, or help to access further education. Since 1997 Moving On has built strong partnerships with community organisations and employers to effectively connect young people with job opportunities, advocate for their needs and foster better integration into the workforce. Our Support Co-Ordinators draw on a variety of experience from different backgrounds to offer a holistic service to young people aged 14 – 26 with a range of conditions including autism, additional support needs, mental or physical health issues, alcohol or substance use, care experience and offending behaviour.
