02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre exists to advance education and support personal development within communities experiencing multiple deprivation in South East Edinburgh. The Centre provides safe, inclusive spaces where children, young people, families and older residents can build confidence, develop skills and improve wellbeing. We deliver youth work programmes, holiday activities, intergenerational projects and community learning opportunities throughout the year. These include weekly youth groups, volunteering opportunities, creative partnerships, family support activities and community events. The Centre also provides facilities for local organisations delivering services such as ESOL classes, community lunches and support programmes. Through partnership working and community-led activity, Goodtrees supports people to connect, learn and thrive.
