02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our core purpose is to enable young people, especially those from tough realities, and the key adults in their lives, to lead lives of purpose, meaning and contribution. Through our values-based leadership academies, guided by our six core values – Awareness, Focus, Creativity, Integrity, Perseverance and Service, we create the conditions for lasting change. Columba 1400 is an immersive experience grounded in warmth of welcome, hospitality and shared journey. Our Leadership Academies take place at our community and international leadership centre in Staffin, Isle of Skye, and in communities across Scotland. Our Academies build trust, hope and belonging, helping participants discover their potential, reconnect with their values, and strengthen authentic relationships. Real change starts with people – and at scale, our academies inspire transformation in individuals, communities and wider systems.
