What the charity exists to do

To preserve for the public benefit the property known as Traquair House, Innerleithen, Peeblesshire together with its related buildings and its gardens and policies, the furniture, pictures, books, works of art and other chattels ordinarily kept at Traquair, to facilitate and encourage access to and study and appreciation of Traquair and such chattels by the general public, to facilitate and encourage access to and study and appreciation of Traquair and such chattels by the general public, to facilitate and encourage at Traquair for the public benefit such activities as shall be for the advancement of education or in the interests of social welfare, and to promote for the public benefit ecumenical activities based at Traquair

Constitutional objectives

(a) To preserve for the public benefit the property known as Traquair House, Innerleithen, Peeblesshire together with its related buildings and its gardens and policies (referred to as 'Traquair') so far as vested in the Trustees (b) To preserve for the public benefit as an adjunct to Traquair the furniture, pictures, books, works of art and other chattels ordinarily kept at Traquair or which may be given or loaned to the Trustees and which the Trustees shall consider to be appropriate to be kept at Traquair provided that money shall only be expended by the Trustees on the enhancement of furniture, pictures, books, works of art and other corporeal moveables or chattels which are lent to them if the Loan Agreement confers on the Trustees in the event of the termination of the loan full rights of compensation for any monies so expended (c) To facilitate and encourage access to and study and appreciation of Traquair and such chattels by the general public (d) To facilitate and encourage at Traquair for the public benefit such activities as shall be for the advancement of education or in the interests of social welfare (e) To promote for the public benefit ecumenical activities based at Traquair
