02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We organise a variety of educational and entertainment social events monthly between September and April, to help prevent isolation, and to stay aware of the needs of the elderly on Flotta. We provide help and signposting where we can. We organise at least one trip annually to give the elderly the opportunity to leave the island and take part in a social day, visiting various attractions and craftspeople.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the group is to promote the benefit of all elderly people in Flotta which is now, or hereafter may be deemed, by law to be charitable by:- 1. Co-ordinating volunteers to give practical help and emotional support to elderly people 2. Bringing together representatives of statutory and voluntary organisations and individuals who have a personal or professional interest in the welfare of the elderly 3. Involving elderly people in matters which concern them 4. Making representations on behalf of the elderly people 5. Collating and disseminating information for, from and on behalf of the elderly people 6. Initiating, promoting and enabling appropriate services and resources to be established and made available as widely as possible
