What the charity exists to do

Provide independent advocacy support and information to individuals and collective groups for people with mental health, learning and/or physical disability, dementia and those who face substance use challenges.

Constitutional objectives

This Article shall be interpreted as if it incorporated an over-riding qualification limiting the powers of the Company such that any activity which would otherwise be permitted by the terms of the Article may be carried on only it that activity furthers a purpose which is regarded as charitable. Subject to that overriding qualification the Company's principal objects are to advance citizenship, community development, human rights, conflict resolution and reconciliation and to advance education and reduce poverty and hardship among people who need community care throughout Scotland and particularly learning, and physically disabled individuals, individuals with mental illness, individuals with dementia, and alder people by promoting independent advocacy services and advancing the education of the public about issues surrounding independent advocacy as they relate to the above mentioned people and in furtherance of those objects will:- a) endeavour to provide the highest standards of independent advocacy services. b) ensure that the interests of the supported individuals are central to decisions which affect their well-being. and c) ensure that supported individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
