02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Hall is used for meetings of the local community with the stated intention of fostering a community spirit and advancing education and knowledge. We do this by letting the hall to local community organisations such as a local dance and exercise classes, the womens' rural and young farmers. The Committee also arrange a number of community events throughout the year.

Constitutional objectives
The Hall shall be used for meetings strictly confined to those of a social or religious nature and without prejudice thereto it shall be used for the purpose of recreation and social, moral, intellectual and charitable activities for the fostering of a community spirit and for the advancement of education and knowledge through the medium of lectures, classes and recreations or otherwise as may be found expedient for the inhabitants ot Gates1de and the district adjoining without distinction of sex or of political, re1igious or other opinions, subjeot to the provisions of these present and of the said Disposition and Deed o£ Trust. The Hall shall not be used for political or local authority meetings of any kind nor shall any spirituous liquors be consumed therein and it shall not be used so as to create any nuisance or disturbance or for any purpose injurious to the Hall or the amenity of its neighbourhood or Gateside or the districts adjoining of all which the Trustees shall be the sole judges
