02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our purpose is to achieve lasting change through learning. We are a full-time, transitional education project for young adults with learning disabilities and additional communication needs aged 17 and over. We are also Sleep Action, formerly Sleep Scotland, transforming lives by helping families and professionals to improve sleep through tailored support and training.

Constitutional objectives
4. Sleep Scotland’s charitable purpose is to realise the potential of children and adults in need, principally those with complex needs. Its objects are: (i) The advancement of health and the relief of those in need by reason of ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage through a range of support services to individuals and their families, including a sleep service and the establishment of self-help groups. (ii) The advancement of education for those in need, including the provision of transitional educational services into adulthood. further and continuing education post-school. the provision and encouragement of lifelong learning. the provision of education and advice to children and young people in mainstream education. and the provision of sleep training and development for professionals from health, social care, education and the voluntary sector.
