02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Positive Action in Housing is an independent, anti-racist homelessness and human rights charity supporting refugees, people seeking asylum, migrants and minority ethnic communities. We help people overcome homelessness, poverty, destitution and inequality and rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. We do this by providing housing and homelessness advice, welfare and rights information, casework and advocacy, emergency humanitarian support and access to safe shelter. We support people facing crisis, challenge unfair decisions and barriers to services, provide practical assistance to those experiencing hardship, and work to protect human rights and promote fair treatment. We also raise awareness of the causes of homelessness and inequality and use our experience to advocate for improvements in policy and practice.

Constitutional objectives
5.The Objects are specifically restricted to the following:- 5.1 To relieve those in need, whether by reason of financial hardship or other disadvantage. 5.2 To promote religious and racial harmony, equality and diversity. and 5.3 To advance human rights. by seeking to ensure (through a direct advocacy service and awareness raising) that everyone has an equal chance to live in good quality, safe and affordable homes, free from discrimination and fear of racial and other forms of harassment and violence. and with a particular focus on people from BME, Refugee and Migrant communities.
