02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We serve 144 vulnerable older adults in the Oxgangs area each month, covering both EH13 and EH10 postcodes, which is ranked 3rd on the SIMD index for Edinburgh. Our aim is to reduce social isolation and loneliness. Our services are dedicated to those over the age of 60, offering support through our Day Centre and Befriending Service. Through these we aim to provide companionship, care, and a sense of community, ensuring that older adults feel connected, valued and supported in their daily lives. Our purpose is to create a community where older adults are empowered to live as independently as possible. We believe that everyone, regardless of age, deserves the opportunity to lead a full and active life. By fostering an environment of respect, care, and inclusion, we aim to ensure that older individuals can continue to thrive, maintain their dignity, and participate fully in society for as long as they are able.
