02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Hansel provides care and support services for people with additional needs, within registered residential care settings or within their own homes. Accommodation-based respite services also offer short-breaks for visitors throughout the year. Through Hansel's 3e team employment opportunities are available for people with additional support needs, and employability programmes are delivered alongside a number of social enterprise activities. Care and support services are funded through local contracts with health and social care partnerships, though some individuals' support will be funded privately. External revenues are also generated through operation of social enterprise activities, including commercial laundry and tearoom, and the organisation also undertakes fundraising initiatives to raise funds to develop or enhance services provided.
