02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Amina MWRC is an intersectional organisation, based in Scotland, that empowers and supports Muslim and Minority Ethnic women by serving as a vital link between them and the barriers they face everyday. Amina provides 1-1 services to suit Muslim & ME women’s needs, alongside group events and activities. The services, events and activities are delivered across Scotland, either online or in person. Services are developed in response to the needs of our service users, and currently include: - A national Helpline providing a free & confidential culturally sensitive support service - Telephone Befriending - Sahara Scotland Domestic Abuse Advocacy support and information - Financial Advocacy - Employability Support - Adult Learning classes and workshops - Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) prevention work & campaigns - Weekly Creative Well-Being sessions for women in Glasgow and Dundee
