The object of the charity is to advance educational knowledge in the field of Social Anthropology. The achieve this grants or awards are made on an annual basis to Social Anthropology students at the University of St Andrews in the area of fieldwork or research. Additional grants are occasionally made to members of staff and postgraduates in the Social Anthropology Department at the University of St Andrews to assist in workshops and conferences relating to the discipline.
