02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

COPE Ltd provides employment, volunteering and skill development for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. At COPE Ltd we are committed to giving people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in a supportive and inclusive work environment, free from stigma and discrimination. Everyone is valued for their abilities and are appropriately supported and encouraged to fully participate in all aspects of running our busy enterprises. Each enterprise supports a range of volunteer skill development placements and supported employee positions. COPE Ltd sells goods and services to individuals, local authorities and private businesses. All surpluses are always reinvested back into the company to fulfil our social and environmental purposes

Constitutional objectives

3.1 .I The relief of poverty and distress of adults (i.e. persons over the age of 16) with learning difficulties in Shetland by aiding them to advance into employment and pursuing any other objects for the benefit of people with learning difficulties which are now or hereafter may be deemed to be charitable in law. 3.1.2 The prevention or relief of poverty among people affected by ill-health, financial hardship or other disadvantaae throughout the world.
