02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The IT Centre is a charity dedicated to reducing digital exclusion and helping people participate fully in today's digital world. We support individuals of all ages who face barriers to accessing technology, developing digital skills, or building confidence online. We provide affordable refurbished computers, digital skills training, one-to-one support, group learning sessions, digital art and wellbeing activities, and practical support tailored to individual needs. We work closely with local communities, schools, charities, and partner organisations to reach those who need our help most. We also offer paid work placements for young people, helping them gain valuable skills, confidence, and experience for future employment. Through our refurbishment programme, we provide free laptops and IT equipment to people experiencing financial hardship, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to education, employment, essential services, or staying connected with family and community.
