02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity is set up to promote the advancement of education by the study of local history in Stranraer and Wigtownshire. The organisation publishes books on local history which are sold through local outlets and through the website. Recordings are made of local individuals who recall their experiences in past local activities. Bursaries are provided to students at the local Academy who have been accepted to study history at university. Prizes are give to top history students at the local academy. Office bearers give talks on local history to various groups in the area
