02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Society has this year held their AGM, public lectures and exhibitions/excursions to comparable places of historic interest. The Society committee has held regular face-to-face meetings, published an annual newsletter, and other publications connected with the history of Banff and neighbourhood. It has made representations to appropriate bodies on planning matters, and been represented on bodies dealing with Banff’s built heritage. It continues to run the Museum of Banff in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council.

The objects of the Society shall be to advance the education of the public in the study of the history, antiquities and architectural and cultural heritage of the Royal Burgh of Banff and its neighbourhood and in furtherance of these objects to encourage and foster the preservation of and respect for the buildings and other items or features of architectural or historic significance of the said Royal Burgh and neighbourhood
