02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The objects of the Trust are stated to be the establishment of a coal fund for the distribution of coal in winter among poor householders whom the Trustees shall judge to be proper objects of charity residing in the town of Old Aberdeen, in Spital and Seaton or the lands betwixt Old Aberdeen, Spital, Seaton and the sea. In recent years with fewer and fewer people using coal the Trustees have distributed electricity vouchers at Christmas to people in the above categories identified by the Minister of St. Machar’s Cathedral, using the annual income of the Trust.
